The trend of engaging in ecological lifestyle and gardening is becoming increasingly popular and for more and more people gardening is not just a hobby but more like a full-time passion to practice. Of course this requires investing your time to obtain all that relevant knowledge and exchange the experience with other, more professional gardeners.

While you can spend endless hours surfing different on-line sources and piling up the stacks of gardening books, you can also engage in real activities and competitions that bring together thousands of gardening fanatics from all around the U.K. There are numerous events and competitions being held nearly each month and they provide wonderful opportunity to learn and discuss everything gardening-related as well as display your own achievements and compete with other peeps. Sometimes it feels like there is no better reward for all that effort and time as acknowledgement by other gardening enthusiasts, doesn’t it? Listed below you will find some of the most significant upcoming gardening events and competitions around the U.K. for 2016.

24-28 May. Chelsea Flower Show, London. Innovative show gardens by the world’s leading designers and the finest displays of plants.

June 3-5. Show gardens, exhibitors, outdoor living festival and plant fair at Gardening Scotland, Royal Highland Showground, Ingliston.

June 5-6. Toby Buckland’s Garden Festival. 10am-5pm at Bowood House, Wilts. Includes specialist nurseries, live music, local food and garden speakers.

11-12 June. Ornamental Plant Competition featuring roses at RHS Garden Hyde Hall.

June 24-26. Grow London, the contemporary garden fair, London. Lectures, talks and discussions on how to transform urban spaces.

20-24 July. Summer Fruit and Vegetable Competition at RHS Flower Show Tatton Park.

17 September. Hillingdon Council Autumn Show – Fruit and vegetable competition. (Last date of entries 9 September)

4-5 October. Autumn Fruit and Vegetable Competition, Giant Pumpkin Competition t RHS London Harvest Festival.

28-29 October. Autumn Ornamental Plant Competition at RHS London Shades of Autumn Show.

4-6 November. Late Fruit and Vegetable Competition at RHS Garden Wisley, Glasshouse
